When taking the Iowa ITBS, Iowa ITED, Stanford or Terra Nova 2 (CAT 6) the complete battery including science, social studies, language arts, spelling, reading, mathematics, and vocabulary must be taken. We do not accept the basic battery or core battery for admission. The test score must come from one test. Section scores from different tests may not be combined to achieve the required test score for membership. Although some college scholarship applications accept super scoring, we do not.
Test scores must not be more than 1 year old.
All tests must be administered in a group setting if a parent is helping with the test administration. If a group setting is not possible, a non-family member may administer the test in a one-on-one setting, as long as the parent does not have access to the test. Parent administered tests are not acceptable.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of joining the National Homeschool Honor Society?
This is an organization to recognize the academic achievement of homeschooled students. Members may list their membership on high school transcripts, college applications, and scholarship applications.
What is involved with joining the Delta Mu chapter of the honor society?
Send in your completed application (accepted from June 1-September 30 of each calendar year) along with all of the required paperwork and dues; making sure to meet the required deadlines. If you are accepted into the honor society, you will receive an acceptance letter, and membership certificate.
What are the registration deadlines?
Registration is open from June 1 thru September 30 for new applications and renewals. The deadline for community service records is April 30th. A new log is required for each subsequent year of membership.
These are firm deadlines, determined by the computer submission time stamps. Application and records with later time stamps than those stated will be returned to sender. Thus, late applicants will be denied membership for the current school year.
Why is there a test requirement for the National Homeschool Honor Society when the National Honor Society does not require such?
Joanne Juren, founder of the Alpha Chapter of the National Home School Honor Society states “The test scores provide an accepted method of measuring the homeschooled student’s achievement against national and standardized norms.” The non-home school community, including colleges and scholarship boards, embrace this high standard as credible evidence of the academic abilities of homeschooled students.
What should my transcript look like?
The Delta Mu Chapter is solely for the members of the Upcountry Homeschool Association. Therefore, you must be a member of UHA before joining Delta Mu. If you are transferring from another association or are new to homeschooling, you will need to submit an up to date transcript with your Delta Mu application. If you are a current member of UHA your student’s transcript should already be on file. If you have any questions, please email upcountryhomeschoolassociation@gmail.com.
If you are joining the honor society as a rising 9th grader, and have not completed any high school work thus far, please send in your last report card with grades and a grade point ratio.
A GPA is required for all honor society applicants. South Carolina members must adhere to the Uniform Grading Scale on their transcripts.
What about Community Service?
Members must document at least 10 hours of community service. Community service is defined as any service performed by the student for which he does not receive monetary/financial or other compensation. Suggestions for community service projects: working in a community soup kitchen, ringing bells for Salvation Army, helping with community project to provide toys for needy children at Christmas, helping build a house as part of Habitat for Humanity, delivery Meals on Wheels, volunteering in a hospital or nursing center, etc. A new log is required with each subsequent year of membership.
Can Delta Mu members wear special regalia at their high school graduations?
YES! The National Home School Honor Society offers several items for its member and encourages them to wear these at their graduations or other applicable events. Each member will automatically receive a gold cord and certificate as an award for being accepted into the Delta Mu chapter.
