2025 WORSKSHOPS:

UHA offers multiple homeschool workshops throughout the year.  There were many times along my homeschooling journey that I longed to sit under our association director and just glean some insight on either a road untraveled, such as high school, or recordkeeping requirements that I needed to simplify.  It is my heart’s desire to always be available for both nuts and bolts of homeschooling and encouragement that you are not walking this road alone.  Our association is growing yearly, and you are likely not the only one who needs some assistance! 

I work very hard to maintain our low membership costs and all increases to this point have been driven by inflation of materials and postage increases. 

In order to maintain our price points, we must utilize room reservations at local libraries to host our workshops and sometimes working within their reservation system can be a challenge.  Dates will be released as early as possible for future workshops.  Please revisit this page regularly to see updated information.

Therefore, we are revamping our workshop procedures for 2025.  Following you will find the scheduled workshops, allowing you to plan/budget for what would help you most.  All workshops have limited seating and registration closes 4-5 days prior to the workshop so that I can plan for teaching materials.

Most workshops are for UHA members only!  However, we do host a few each year that are for those considering homeschooling.  If you know of anyone who would like to know the homeschool laws in South Carolina or options concerning kindergarten, please share when those classes will be held. 

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS:

 Are We There Yet:  THIS IS FOR ALL MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL PARENTS! All things high school! Looking to plan for graduation requirements? What exactly does our ceremony look like? Transcripts, honors credits, and Dual Enrollment, we have a list to cover! --$12 AND ONLY FOR CURRENT UHA MEMBERS

Curriculum Choices and Mapping:  We will walk through the different types of curricula, learning styles, used curriculum options and how to map the year.  Parents with multiples homeschooling can possibly combine some students to lessen the parent’s preparations. --$12 AND ONLY FOR CURRENT UHA MEMBERS

Enrichment Options:  This workshop is my favorite!  Let’s talk about homeschooling outside the curriculum boxes.  Of course, curriculum serves a crucial need, but so does the homeschool lifestyle and flexibility.  We will talk about field trips, homeschool classes at local venues, and traveling while homeschooling.  There are learning opportunities and days of learning to be found all around!  PLUS enrichment brings education to life! --$12 AND ONLY FOR CURRENT UHA MEMBERS

Finish Line:  We will cover our graduation ceremony, transcripts, college scholarships, and this excitingly BUSY time of year! Our hope is to encourage and inform you so that you can fully enjoy this final chapter in your child's homeschool journey. –FREE AND ONLY FOR CURRENT UHA MEMBERS THAT HAVE A GRADUATING SENIOR FOR THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR.

Here We Go: You have decided to homeschool and just have random questions concerning lesson plans or record keeping?  Want to make certain you have a full understanding of what is required by the law?  Are you curious how co-ops may fit into your homeschool day?  Want to have the recordkeeping requirements explained in depth?  Join us for an open time of questions.  --$12 AND ONLY FOR CURRENT UHA MEMBERS

How to Homeschool:  Passionate about homeschooling, but have no idea where to begin? Started homeschooling, but feel like you don’t have a firm grasp? Just need a refresher after your first couple of years?  This is a one-day workshop covering all the basics needed to get started educating your children at home! During this workshop, we will explore the South Carolina laws centered around homeschooling, the different learning styles and how to identify what might work best for each child, how to evaluate curriculum to choose the best fit, the world of lesson planning to keep you and your children on track, how to effectively teach multiple children at once, successful record keeping to maintain compliance with state law, and grading. While all these topics are critical, having some fun is just as beneficial! Therefore, this workshop will also highlight enrichment days/activities and attendance logging to ensure any fun is enjoyed with peace of mind!  $30 AND ONLY FOR CURRENT UHA MEMBERS 

Junior Class Parent Meeting:  We will cover the possible options of graduating early, honors credits, transcripts, process of choosing colleges, scholarships, boys/girls state, and MORE with this excitedly BUSY time of year! Please join us for a time of Face-to-Face with Lori Wyatt, UHA Director and veteran homeschool moms. Our hope is to encourage and inform you so that you can fully enjoy this final chapter in your child's homeschool journey. Kindergarten… Where Do I Begin?  What Options Do I Have:  Let’s chat Kindergarten!  District waiver versus homeschooling registration to meet the compulsory attendance law, learning styles/curriculum, recordkeeping, friends, HOW? –FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Learn About Homeschooling in SC:   Have you ever considered homeschooling your child but don’t know where to begin?  Join us for a presentation on the homeschool laws in South Carolina followed by a question-and-answer session.  –FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Lesson Planning… What to do now that it all relies on you:  Bring your planner and curriculum choices.  We will talk about breaking down assignments of all kinds, noting field trips, and enrichment. --$12, AND ONLY FOR CURRENT UHA MEMBERS

Record Keeping Round Up:  This will be a small group, hands on, face-to-face workshop.  Bring your records and we will walk you through record keeping, assembling portfolios, etc. --$12 AND ONLY FOR CURRENT UHA MEMBERS

PERSONAL CONSULTATIONS:   Upcountry Homeschool Association hosts multiple workshops each year.  However, we occasionally have parents who either can't make a workshop or would like one-on-one time specific to their family.  Therefore, we offer a limited number of Face-to-Face consultations each year.

  1. 0-90 minutes is $35  

  2. Anything 2+ hours requires multiple appointments

To request an appointment, email upcountryhomeschoolassociation@gmail.com with the time frame that you are requesting.  You should receive a response within 24 hours with the three next available options.  Once an appointment day/time has been established you will receive a Paypal invoice and questionnaire so that I will know how to best prepare and utilize our time wisely.

You MUST be a current member of Upcountry Homeschool Association to receive consultation services
